Kibbutz Kvutzat Yavne is a cooperative religious kibbutz that has decided to undergo a renewal for most of its residential area while renovating the pedestrian pathway system. The preservation of the kibbutz movement's values and religious Zionism, such as communal ownership of all vehicles ,equality and observance of Shabbat, has led our planning to focus on  the "Kibbutz Garden" and on balancing the common and private domains.

The program was divided into two parts: the renovation and accessibility of 21 two-story buildings for four families, and the demolition and reconstruction of 56 buildings serving pairs of families, so that each family would have a separate path to their home. Vehicular traffic was limited to the compound to preserve the residential area as a "Kibbutz Garden." All pathways were required to be accessible without stairs to facilitate bike and pedestrian traffic to every home. Private garden spaces remained unfenced. The height differences created by the new construction were addressed through the design of shaded stairways.

The planning process involved determining the location of the buildings while preserving existing trees as much as possible. The path way system was examined and divided into main paths leading to the kibbutz center ,which includes the synagogue and dining hall, as well as secondary and private paths. The open space was divided into private and public areas, marked by plantings. The program's architect was Fibko Architects.
